We have full faith in your ability to guide your visit based on your personal preferences; however, we would be remiss if we did not provide some recommendations for your stay in Seville.

Also, as it is our wedding, this is an excellent opportunity to pontificate upon our own favorites.

Dining in Seville

For guests staying in El Centro

An easy and idyllic street full of restaurants is Calle Mateos Gago located behind the cathedral and lined with orange trees. This street can be touristy, but it contains several highly serviceable establishments serving Andalusian cuisine.

Casual Restaurants
I.E. A tapas bar

Mercado Lonja del Barranco

Located alongside the river, this refurbished industrial building houses a food market with a variety of vendors and cuisines.
La Campana

A classic bakery and breakfast spot; very old and stylized, with a classic standing bar to sip espresso.
El Patio

Casual, but with tables and full service. Unpretentious, but not a tourist trap despite its looks. Serves exceptionally cold beer.
La Tradicional

A bit touristy, but perfectly acceptable. Has pleasant sidewalk tables with views to the cathedral.
Bodega Santa Cruz

Very local, very greasy. Your bill is kept in chalk at your space at the bar and there’s no place to sit.
The groom's favorite.
El Rincón de Beirut

Shockingly inexpensive mediterranean/Lebanese, with several healthier options (and excellent kebabs).
El Rinconcillo

Oldest tapas bar in Seville, with everything done in an old, casual style.

More Formal
A proper restaurant, perhaps needing a reservation

Mamarracha Tapas

Trendy interior and convenient location. Their speciality is pork, but it has a wide and modern menu of Spanish cuisine.
Restaurante Ispal

Holds a strong reputation in the city with its 10- to 15-course tasting menus.
Eneko Basque

Somewhat hidden in a Radisson hotel, but with a Michelin star chef. Stopped in for lunch on a whim and everything was magnificent.
Eslava

At times ranked the best tapas restaurant in Seville, Eslava serves contemporary and upscale tapas.
Acento Social Eatery

More americanized fare.
Described as “cozy mediterranean.”

Our Favorite Bars

In descending order of formality

Bar Americano

Jazz-age themed and located in the Hotel Alfonso, probably the most upscale Seville has to offer.
La Terraza de Eme

Rooftop bar overlooking the cathedral. One of the few places in town where you spend more than $10 on a cocktail, but one of the best views.
Querencia de Sevilla Rooftop:

Another excellent rooftop, this can be found on the roof of the Querencia de Sevilla Hotel.
Lama La Uva

Hole in the wall wine shop with natural wines and charcuterie.
The Gintoneria:

More casual (and slightly weird) gin-focused cocktail bar.
La Gitana Loca:

Serves beer for under a Euro, and recently installed a robotic barman. The cheapest drink in town.
Alameda (neighborhood):

Located to the north of El Centro, a long plaza of cheap bars and outdoor seating. A bit out of the way for tourists, it’s normally full of local graduate students.
Alfalfa (neighborhood):

A narrow street of true dive bars, frequented by American undergraduates.

Points of Interest

Seville is full of several significant points of interest. Although this is naturally a non-exhaustive list, here are a few items for consideration

Seville Cathedral and La Giralda

The dominant building of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the largest Gothic structure in the world. Houses an excellent collection of Spanish art and artifacts, including (some portion of) the body of Christopher Columbus. La Giralda is the belltower attached to the Cathedral, and dates back to the twelfth century.
Metropol Parasol (Las Setas)

The world's largest wooden structure; the roof provides excellent panoramic views, while the base contains an archeological museum and market.
Plaza de España

An “outstanding example of Regionalist Revival Architecture, a bizarre and loftily conceived mixture of diverse historic styles.” Surrounded by the sprawling Maria Luisa Park, it is one of the most iconic and distinctive sights in Seville.
Seville Museum of Fine Arts

Perhaps the second most important art museum in Spain behind the Prado, this establishment houses an excellent collection of Baroque Spanish art, along with a handful of Dutch Masters and other non-Spanish contributions.
Real Alcázar

1,000 year old central palace and UNESCO World Heritage Site, containing unique Mudéjar architecture and extensive gardens. Frequent Game of Thrones filming location.
Barrio Judio (Old Jewish Neighborhood)

Found by continuing up the Calle Mateos Gago, the Barrio Judio is an area of ancient alleys, orange-tree lined squares, and sidewalk cafes. The region of Santa Cruz within the Barrio Judio is quintessentially Sevillian, and a famously beautiful neighborhood of Spain.
Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla

One of the most historic and significant bullrings in Spain. Offers regular tours, including a museum and the opportunity to walk within the center of the arena. Bullfights can potentially be seen on Tuesdays or Thursdays this time of year.
Triana (neighborhood)

Located across the river from El Centro, the Triana neighborhood has historically existed as a separate monumental and cultural center from the rest of Seville and carries on a vibrant traditional pottery and tile industry. Stereotypically, parts of Triana are working-class areas and, as such, are less touristy - while still hosting some of Seville’s most popular bars and nightclubs. Supposed birthplace of Trajan.
